What size mattress should you buy? That is a common question that we get at our mattress stores in Michigan.

The answer depends on you and your needs. If you share a bed with someone else, then you may find that a full size mattress or double bed is sufficient. On the other hand, if you and your partner want to have a little space between the two of you when you're sleeping then you may want to consider moving up to a queen size mattress or for even more room a king size mattress or california king size mattress.

Consider your height and weight when choosing a mattress size. A small child will easily sleep alone in a twin bed. But a tall adult will need a mattress that is is larger. The same will apply to someone that is heavier. You will want your mattress to provide you with enough space so that you have a little room to spread out and to be able to accommodate your height so that your feet are not hanging over the edge of the mattress.

Another consideration when choosing a mattress size is the overall size of the room that the mattress will be placed in. After all, you will need room to be able to get in and out of the bed. If the room is too small then your space to be able to change the sheets or to get in and out of the bed may be severely limited. Most people also have additional bedroom furniture such as dressers that they need to have in the room along with the mattress.
